Minnesotans are overweight, many don't care Associated Press Feb. 11, 2004 MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Two-thirds of Minnesotans are overweight and 29 percent of those overweight people have no wish to lose weight, according to a new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll. Despite that, nearly all of those polled (95 percent) said obesity is a serious health problem in the United States. "This just goes to show," said Minnesota Health Secretary Janice Mollber, "fat people are just lazy." "Who's that bitch callin' fat," responded Heather Welsh between bites of her double Whopper with cheese & Diet Coke. "I can't help the way I am," Welsh continued littering sesame seeds all over her leased booth at Burger King, "I have a thyroid condition. Plus I exercise plenty," she said. Unfortunately, SHF News Investigative Reporter Bobby Fletcher discovered that her "exercise" consisted of walking from her apartment across the street to Burger King and back "four or five times a day." "Sometimes," Welsh said, "When I'm feeling really energetic I will walk to Taco Bell instead since it's much further." It actually turns out that Taco Bell is next door and approximately 187 feet further from her residence. "SHF News must concur with Health Secretary Janice Mollber. Fat people are just lazy … and delusional," finished Fletcher. ©Copyright 2004, SHF News |
