Sen. Clinton quote draws first lady's ire

Washington - Sen. Hillary Rodham's Clinton's description of the Republican-led House of Representatives as "a plantation" continued making political waves Wednesday, as Laura Bush joined the fray from Africa.

"I think it's ridiculous. It's a ridiculous comment, that's what I think," she said when asked about the statement as she flew home after visiting Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria. "But, I guess she should know all about plantations coming from the south, shouldn't she."

Clinton spoke out Monday during a ceremony in Harlem honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Addressing a supportive audience, she said: "When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation, and you know what I'm taking about…. It has been run in a way so that nobody with a contrary view has had a chance to present legislation, to make an argument, to be heard."

"Duh," replied Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist (R-TN). "That's what the American people asked us to do. In 2004 they kicked enough of you liberal wimps out of congress giving the Republicans the majority. That means we control what legislation and arguments will be heard and when. The American people asked us to take control and we've done so."

"Please don't whine," Frist continued, "because you lost power due to your inability to do the job right. You're only embarrassing yourselves."
